W1 SUCCESSFULLY KICKS-OFF ITS

FIRST SEASON

Mahalo to all the W1 teams that participated this past weekend and helped make MISO history on the inaugural day of the W1, by becoming the first women’s teams to participate in MISO! The opening weekend seemed to be a success with 2 good games, and the league already received interest from a 5th team to join for next season.

Here are some opening weekend quotes from W1 players, coaches and referees: “it was really fun to play with the younger, fit girls getting ready for college, mainland tournaments, etc. Now we just need to get more teams in!!!!!” (Jodie Tanga, HSC Bulls)

“It looks like the W1 will be every bit competitive as believed it would. We should see some of the better High School players and recent College graduates playing in this league” (Derek Wong, Referee Assignor).

“A historic game for Hawaii Rush and its women’s program...first time ever to have a women’s team compete in any league. We opened our season with a very entertaining game against the Bulls. A 2-2 score at the end reflected the open and fast paced game. (Arian Hoxha, Rush coach)

“I feel this is good experience for the youth players. They get to play against some tough competition. This can help them develop and prepare for regional’s. Mahalo.” (Tamie Richardson, REAL HFC)
